A
reputable writer and speaker, Ellie Lofaro has touched the hearts
and funny-bones of audiences since 1984. Her ability to discover
humor in everyday situations coupled with her deep understanding
of God’s grace have brought laughter, hope and encouragement
to many.
Ellie has addressed a wide range of people at conferences,
banquets, seminars, and retreats from coast to coast. She has a
passion for evangelism and exhortation. Having received degrees
in both English and Communications from Boston College, she spent
ten years teaching at a public high school in New York while completing
her Masters Degree in English. Ellie left teaching to fully devote
herself to “domestic engineering.”
Five years and three children later, Ellie spent two
years as the host of a live daily talk show at a Christian radio
station in New York. The fast-paced magazine style format presented
a wide array of topics from breast cancer, to bigotry, to basting
the perfect turkey. Live call-in segments taught her to expect the
unexpected and she conducted
inspirational, in-depth interviews with Chuck Colson,
Beverly LaHaye, Charles Stanley, Janet Parshall, John MacArthur,
Joni Erickson Tada and many other highly acclaimed Christian authors
and speakers.
After two years as a talk show host, life as she knew
it, “...came to a screeching halt...” when her husband
Frank left private industry for a position with the ministry of
Prison Fellowship. This transition launched a radical change of
scenery as the family moved “south” to Virginia. Marriage,
motherhood, female friendships, life lessons and an ongoing search
for real pizza have been sources of much laughter and constant reminders
of God’s faithfulness, goodness and mercy in all seasons.
Ellie contributes a monthly newspaper column called
Life Lines which addresses contemporary social and political issues.
Her work has also appeared in Today’s Christian Woman magazine
and in compilations by Word, Zondervan and Bethany House. Ellie
is featured on Christian television and radio programs from DC to
LA.
Ellie’s first book, Slices of Life was published by David
C. Cook Communications in April 2002. Each essay holds a delicious
lesson on life, love, and faith. Her second book, Bonding
with the Blonde Women was released in June 2003. It is another compilation
of fresh servings of life, with a foreword by Patsy Clairmont. Her
latest offering, Leap of Faith was released in April 2004. Ellie
is also a contributor to Crosswalk.com In addition to speaking and
writing, she teaches a weekly Bible study which has grown from 3
to 80 in five years
.
Ellie and her husband Frank reside in northern Virginia
near the nation’s capital. They have three children: Paris--
named for the City of Light; Jordan-- named for the
River of Life; and Capri-- named for the Isle of Love.
